Facility Rules - Please pass on to all parents
· Due to city regulations,
no parking of motor homes or buses in the parks' parking lot.
· No
dogs, skateboarding, bikes or barbeques, at all fields.
· Cardiff Sports
Park does not open until 8:00 am. No teams should be on the fields prior to 8:00
am.
· If you park in designated umpire or snack bar parking areas or
spaces, SDYS has the right to have your vehicle towed at your expense.
·
Scores and brackets will be updated regularly on www.sdyssoftball.com.
General
Rules
· The 2010 ASA fastpitch softball rules will be in effect unless
otherwise stated herein.
· Game balls will be provided for each game
played. You must use the provided balls. NO EXCEPTIONS.
· Each team
must present its team roster and proof of individual insurance at least one hour
prior to the start of their first game. Birth certificates or other legal documents
will be required for each player unless the team has individual picture cards.
Teams can check in at the Cardiff Sports Park or Stagecoach Registration Desk.
· Rosters cannot exceed 15 players. No player may be added after the
start of the 1st game.
· Pitching distances: 8U - 30', 10U - 35', 12U
& 14U - 40'.
· Bases will be set at 60' for 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U.
· Home team during pool play will be determined by a coin toss 15 minutes
prior to game time. Home team during bracket play will be the higher-seeded team.
· Home team will be responsible for providing the official scorekeeper.
Lineup sheets must be handed to the official scorekeeper no later than 10 minutes
prior to game time. Each head coach is responsible for signing game cards.
·
The team listed first on the schedule will occupy the third base dugout. Squatter's
rights do not apply. The only exception will be for back-to-back games on the
same field; teams will not be required to change dugouts.
· Any team
not ready to play at the scheduled game time shall forfeit the game. Exceptions
will be made for teams playing back-to-back games on different fields or locations.
· No infield practice is allowed. Designated warm-up areas will be
provided at each field for the exclusive use of the teams in the next game on
that field.
· To accommodate the tight game schedule and to allow time
to prep the fields, there will be no post game celebrations on the infield between
games. This includes circle cheers.
· No new inning will start after
1 hour and 10 minutes with a drop dead of 1 hour and 20 minutes. (This does not
apply to championship games.) No time limit for championship games, except 8U.
In all drop dead instances, if the home team is ahead then the score stands, if
they are behind then the score will revert back to the last completed inning.
During pool play, if a game is tied after 7 innings, or time has expired, games
will remained tied. During single elimination play, the international tie-breaker
rule will be in effect after 7 innings, or if time has expired, whichever occurs
first.
· ASA Mercy Rule will be effect.
· This is a pool
play tournament. Tie-breakers will be determined using the following criteria
for the elimination rounds:
o Win/loss record.
o Head to head.
o Run
differential between the tied teams (maximum run differential per game is 7 runs).
o Least runs allowed.
o Most runs scored.
o Coin toss.
·
Wins will be counted as 1 point, ties will be counted as ½ point, and losses
as 0 points.
· Home plate umpire and UIC will finalize all protests
on the field at the time of the protest.
· Teams are responsible for
their conduct, as well as the conduct of their fans, on and off the field during
the tournament. Improper conduct during the games, on the park premises, or at
local facilities may result in disqualification from the tournament.
·
Any manager, coach, or player asked to leave the game shall do so immediately.
They shall not be allowed on the playing field, dugout area, stands or general
vicinity of the game for the remainder of the game. Upon a second ejection, the
ejected person may not participate in the remainder of the tournament.
8U
Special Rules
· Six inning games, 4 run rule limit per inning.
Umpire may declare last inning open inning.
· Dropped third strike
and infield fly rule are not in effect.
· Runners may only steal one
base per pitch. No stealing home.
· Cold home plate. Runners can only
score on hit ball, or if runner is forced home on a walk.
· Runners
cannot advance past first base on a walk until next pitch.
· Pitching:
Called balls and strikes, NO COACH PITCHING.
· Defense will consist
of 10 players. 10th player will be an outfield position. No more than 6 players
can be positioned in the infield prior to a pitch.
· Team has option
of batting entire roster, or batting 10.
· Pitching distance is 30'.
10U Special Rules
· Seven inning games, 6 run rule limit
per inning. Umpire may declare open inning after 4th inning only.
·
Dropped third strike and the infield fly rule are in effect.
· In pool
play, teams have the option of batting entire roster or nine. For bracket play,
teams must only bat nine, DP and FLEX may be used when batting nine only.
12U and 14U Special Rules
· Seven inning games, 6 run
rule limit per inning. Umpire may declare open inning after 4th inning only.
·
In pool play, teams have the option of batting nine or entire roster. For bracket
play, teams have the option of batting nine or entire roster, DP and FLEX may
be used when batting nine only.
Synthetic Turf Field Rules
At
Stagecoach Park, fields 2 and 3 are synthetic turf fields. Please follow the rules
listed below:
· No Glass Containers
· No Food
·
No Sunflower Seeds
· No Gum
· No Pets
· No Spikes
of any kind into turf
· No Metal Cleats
· No Smoking
·
Trash must be picked up after vacating the dugout
