SDYS Community,

Hope everyone is doing well during these trying times. We are approaching 100 days in this pandemic but there is light at the end of the tunnel. With the ease of restrictions, we as a league have a bright light that we can see. We are now allowed to get back to our fields and have some softball activities. We appreciate all the all the responses to our recent survey and feedback on what everyone's thinking, what their concerns are and how eager they are to get back out to the ballpark.

With those results , we as a Board have determined a path forward for the league and to abide by the guidelines and protocols that the State, County and City.

What the league can do under the current protocols and guidelines:
Currently we can practice only under San Diego County guidelines and protocols. NO games or scrimmages. The All-Star season has been cancelled cancelled - all tournaments are currently cancelled.
San Diego County COVID Guidelines / Protocols

6u & 8u Divisions:
As of now, have decided not going to move forward with the 6u and 8u age groups. With the safety protocols in place, the feedback we got from the survey, we will look to regroup with these age groups in the fall season.

10u:
We are going to have a link on the website where you will be able to sign up for clinics (watch for another email!). The clinics will vary in what is taught in them, the main thing that we will have to be aware of and do is keep a stable group of 12 players. You will not be able to jump from one group to another. More details to follow in an email to the 10u spring coaches.

12u & 14u:
We are starting with the 14u division and getting them out to practice and following the guidelines and adjusting when needed to ensure safety of all the players and coaches. Last week and early this week the 12u coaches have reached out to their teams to see if they will have a stable group of 12 players so we can start them on their practices this week.

Select Teams:
We will be sending out additional information about forming teams in late July / Early August about forming select teams and gear them up for playing games this fall.

Fall Ball:
Currently we are planning on having a fall season, unless the State,County, City instruct us otherwise.

REFUNDS:
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit (and completely volunteer run), SDYS attempts to ensure that its revenue and expenses are generally in-line with one another.  Additionally, despite the shortened season, we incurred costs for uniforms, insurance, pictures, 2 months of field usage and unfortunately, our biggest fundraising event – Memorial Weekend All Star Tournament – was cancelled.

However, after reviewing everything, concerning the fees charged for the 2020 Season, we are offering our families the following options:

  • Donation to SDYS – funds will be used for new equipment, field maintenance and repairs, etc.
  • Refund or Credit for Future League Fees:
    • Softball Divisions (excluding 6U):  $50
    • Please note that 6U registrations will not be eligible for refund/credit due to discounted registration fee charged for the season.

If you would like a refund or credit, please contact Christine Doherty at treasurer@sdyssoftball.com by July 15, 2020.

Thank you for your support, and we hope to see you on the fields soon!
